At Frost* we get the opportunity to contribute to some amazing places – and the garden and historic house at Everglades in the Blue Mountains is no exception.
The garden is set across 12.5 acres of European-style gardens and native Australian bush, with breathtaking views over the Jamison Valley. Originally designed by renowned landscape architect Paul Sorensen, it is one of Australia’s first and most highly regarded Modernist gardens in Australia.
Frost* has been working with the National Trust to create new interpretive signage for Everglades that helps visitors to appreciate its rich history and have access to otherwise untold stories. The signs use a two-tone scheme of greens that work in harmony with the lush surrounds.
We were proud to join the Federal Minister for Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities, Tony Bourke, for the officially launch on Saturday 30 July as part of an event to celebrate Everglades’ new Visitor Centre and garden improvements, including the new signage.

On Thursday 14th July, Stefano Manfredi and Julie Manfredi Hughes announced the details of the restaurant which heralds their long–awaited return to the Sydney dining scene. Balla, set to open at the newly redeveloped The Star complex in September 2011, will be a restaurant dedicated to the culture of Italian food, wine and service.
Balla will seek to redefine the classic osteria Milanese. As the most cosmopolitan of all Italian cities, Milan is also the most dynamic food-wise, with influences from around the boot. This will be reflected in Balla’s menu, which will feature a newly revived and more urbane cuisine informed by the region of Stefano’s birth. With the addition of a wood-fired grill to his Italian kitchen, expect to taste a truly authentic cuisine from Stefano, which will remain faithful to his long-held tenets of quality, simplicity and seasonality.
Balla’s design has been realised through collaboration with Luigi Rosselli Architects and Frost* Design. A major influence was the Italian Futurist art movement, of which Milan was a major centre in the early 20th century. Naming the restaurant Balla, after the futurist poet and painter Giacomo Balla, Stefano and Julie worked closely with the design team of Rosselli and Frost*, introducing Futurist elements and references throughout the restaurant.
With 160 seats, including an Aperitivi Bar, guests will be able to enjoy a memorable dining experience in Balla’s sweeping arc-shaped avenue overlooking Sydney’s harbour, bridge and city, or enjoy a quick antipasto at the bar with a glass of wine from the extensive all-Italian list.

Frost strategy director Catriona Burgess was tabloid fodder following an energising visit to Broken Hill, NSW. The city of 19,500 has commissioned Frost to rebrand Broken Hill across a range of markets: tourism, film and TV locations, education and sustainable energy.

“This is an exciting day for Broken Hill,” said Mayor Wincen Cuy. The city is starting from a position of strength, with a vivid image that will be catalysed through Frost strategising. Said Cuy, “People worldwide will be able to recognise Broken Hill, for our heritage, our people and our courageous commitment to retaining our unique lifestyle well into the future.” Said Cat, “There are fewer and fewer places like Broken Hill. It’s real.”

Developer Frasers Property asked Frost to conceive an integrated introduction to Park Lane, the Johnson Pilton Walker-designed tower within the Central Park development in down-town Sydney. Frost looked no further than the park for inspiration, creating a campaign – “Room To Bloom”, “Branch Out”, “Plant Yourself” — that reflects the positive energy of green space and its balancing effect on urban lifestyle.

Some 2,500 real estate agents are expected to descend on this year’s Australiasian Real Estate Conference (AREC) in May featuring former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani as its keynote speaker. A new client to Frost*, the brief was to ramp up the marketing approach by making it more impressive and reflective of the event’s heavyweight speakers. The solution came in the line SHIFT HAPPENS and distinctive visual branding comprising pixelated portraits of the speakers, which in turn is about shifting focus. The integrated campaign rolls out across advertising, online, brochures and exhibition livery.
